Well, after two years of using the Moto V710, I finally got the smartphone/pda I have always wanted.

I considered the Treo 650p, 700p, and 700w, but decided I didn't *really* need a full PDA, and went with the more phone-like Q. (I like that the Q can use voice dial).

As far as I can tell in my limited testing so far:

Pros:
-Voice dial
-Comfortable in jean pocket
-Reception at least "good"
-FULL bluetooth including OBEX filesharing (untested)
-Wireless Outlook sync (untested)
-GPS navigation option via bluetooth
-Good interpretation of words as you type
-Wi-fi via miniSD card (maybe, untested)
-Possible Skype (not yet in beta.. maybe coming soon??)
-miniSD slot
-New improved charger port!!

Cons:
-Cannot edit Office files
-No "note pad" (maybe able to download? I think yes)
-No built in Wi-fi
-Limited onboard RAM (128, 50+ free)

Unknown:
-Battery life
-Full reception test in bad areas

Other:
-No touch screen

All in all, I like it so far. It remains to be seen if I miss the touch screen a real PDA would have, but for *limited* email and calendar stuff, I think I will be just fine.

I love my Treo 650, and have not yet tried the Q. I need to.

i hear the voice quality during calls and such is *excellent*. i was also looking at it, but verizon has too many other goodies coming up that i will sit back and wait and watch to see what emerge's as the phone that best suits my needs. id hate to invest only to be behind the curve a week later. i realize i cant delay the inevitable, but the lg chocolate (vx8500) and the samsung sch-a990 look really nice also.

How do you like paying the rediculous amount Verizon is charging for data?

i just got mine yesterday too. frankly i love it. it's PERFECT for me.

it is without question the best combination of phone / pda that i've owned.

before i bought this, i carried 2 phones, an Audiovox 6600 and the Razr.

since, i've put the audiovox up for sale and given the Razr to my son.

i seriously considered the LG, but it isn't MS OS. i know that sounds crazy, but the MS WM5 is the better OS i think. plus i plan on integrating mine with my exchange server.

I was able to get it w/o the data plan because I have no need for email at the moment. I will change to a data plan when I need it when I start work next summer.

They're charging $79.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited data.

Got it at costco, but I think you can do it at VZW too.

I think most lines with a data plan are used for business reasons because I know I wouldn't pay for the data plan at 70 bucks as the lowest data/phone plan. I have been using the Q for about 3-4 weeks and its a phone first and pda second. It does your basic emails fine. But those who look for a pda device similar to a treo or vx6700...this is phone is not for you.

jsut set it up today. It isn't bad. I use it for my boss's pc which has a few pop accounts and a bunch of sent mail in those accounts. For that it works great, but realizing it's limitations, I setup the phone to check our IMAP

Works like a a charm...

Q User here. Love the phone. I've had it for about 3 weeks. I had a Razr with Cingular before, and the reception is better.

1. battery life with the extended battery is 4 hrs talk time ideal, a little elss realistically :(.

using it for email and stuff, it lasts throught the day without any problems

2. bluetooth is not compeltely crippled. It supports the latest and greatest, but Verizon disabled tethering (using it as a modem via bluetooth or cable) but it can be circumvented.

btw, the lack of a notepad or scratchpad program is indeed annoying....there is free stuff out there though...

Currently, my favorite free program uses google maps for directions and has the ability to sync via bluetooth with a GPS device:D

Without a touchscreen, I don't see how those programs would be useful.

Try Thunderhawk mobile browser.

I've realized surfing on normal website on a QVGA screen (320x240) is pretty pointless. Although, pushmail is probably the best feature thus far.
