so it keeps things cool but not at all cold. milk spoiled in it. i have this mini fridge in my room mainly for beer and milk...

sites say this means it might be the condenser/compressor/coils. i called a repair company and they want $70 just to send someone out to look at it. are these mini frdiges tough to work on by amateurs?

I had a mini fridge that did the same thing, it was chilled but not cold. Turns out the condenser/compressor/coils? (I dont know what exactly) was frozen, it just need to thaw out for a day or two and it went back to being nice and cold. $70 just to take a look at it? Wouldnt it just be cheaper to go buy a new one if you cant MacGyver it?

When was the last time you defrosted it? As has been mentioned, the most likely cause is that the condensor coils are frozen.

Very unlikely. Frozen coils is almost always the reason. He needs to check that first; always trouble-shoot by working on the problems that can be solved for free first.

I had a full size fridge that was dong a similar thing, but all it was was the coils were dirty, so it couldn;t pump heat out. All it took was a vaccum cleaner and a small brush to clean the coils and misc radiator looking parts.
