We have recently hired three Indian contractors to work with us in the office. They're supposedly good at what they do, but I have NO IDEA what the heck they're saying to me at times. Their accents are super thick to the point of annoyance. Today, one of them was telling me to go to a specific folder in Windows Explorer:
Him: "Yes, yes... umm.. click on arco"
Me: "What?"
Him: "Arco"
Me: "Say again?"
Him: "Arco"
Me: "Ummmm..." <getting frustrated>
Finally, he points to the folder called "Archive"
Me: "Oh, ARCHIVE! I'm sorry, I didn't understand."
Stuff like this happens all the time, and it's very frustrating. They're supposed to be helping us improve our system, which I'm sure they're very capable of, but when they try to talk to me, my response consists of only nods and yeahs while I pretend to understand what they just said.
I have nothing against them personally or against Indians in general, but geez, I can't get my work done when I can't communicate with them. <sigh>
