I have 4 Dell Wyse 5070 thin client/mini PC's that I have upgraded the memory on to 16GB. I'm interested in setting them up as a DVR on the cheap, for over the air Antenna recordings.
Each of them has wifi on an m2 a&e key slot, but it would be easy to free this up by using a USB 2 wifi dongle instead for wifi.
Do any of you have any experience setting up a mini PC as a DVR for over the air recording? The tiny/cheap TV tuner card that I see most often is Avermedia 323 based, usually for under $20 shipped. There seem to be plenty of these online.
Has anyone ever used one of these? I was wondering if they are detected properly under Linux, or if I might need to run an old version of Windows (7?) to get it to work for viewing and DVR.
It looks like it also has FM radio tuner, so it would also seem to let me record scheduled radio shows, with the right software.
