A1 and A2 is for 802.11a
G1 G2 is for 802.11g

They're different radios and frequencies and need different antennas.

LOL. It is a fascinating phenomenon, not knowing electronic and using plumbing as a guide line, somehow worked with Overclocking and Video Frame pushing, it isn?t working any more with Wireless.;)

ok thx. I don't see very many A networks so I guess I have no use for it.

Interesting, is that why Intel PRO/Wireless cards have an Aux antenna?

I wish A was a little bit more accessible. I'd switch over to it in a heart beat.

Nope. Two antennas are ideal for omni-directional/diversity antennas. Look up "diversity antenna". You have two antennas, one radio - it switches back and forth between the antennas and uses math/digital signal processing to "pickout/recover" the signal from noise.

As an analogy - can you locate a sound with only one ear? Not really. With two ears switching back and for you can and by doing so get more signal over noise.

This is why it is discouraged to follow a "I need more signal!" approach. Higher gain antennas can and many times are more detrimental. "I need more singal to noise!" is the approach.
