Does anyone make a mini rack for home network gear?
I just want to clean up the setting for a modem, router and 4 port switch with some wire management. Hopefully for $100 or less.
I dont want to go ghetto like the DIY $8 home network rack

Check out music stores that sell Rock & Roll (versus High School Marching) band equipment.
Guitar Center, Sam Ash, or similar.

The audio and sound processing equipment uses the same 19" mount. They have everything from 2 rack unit (RU) boxes up to half and full racks, larger unit probably have wheels.

Good Luck

Fry's also has / had racks of various sizes, also Greybar, Anixter, CDW.

if you have a good surplus electronics store in your neighborhood,
they're likely to have this come through from time to time.

i know some of the surplus electronics places in San Diego & the SF Bay
area, if that would help.

my own personal preference would be a sawed off aluminum telecom
rack, the kind that was common in 1980. i have seen similar racks
sold at Fry's for $100 - 5 years ago. the price of aluminum has gone
up some since then.

Thanks for all the replies, but I think I need to rephrase my question.
I need a small rack that isnt so wide. Something I can set on or near my desk to hold the couple of items listed in my original post.
Basically something to keep my network gear in one small spot and contain the cables.

You aren't going to find one orientated towards home networking. Just build one out of wire shelves or wood even.

A simple one. Few pieces of left over clear cedar, 8 screws, and 30minutes.

Larger pieces of wood, few more screws, a little more time, and you can build a bigger one with few more shelves.

This is what I use for my home networking rack sits next to my desk it is just a simple standard 19 inch, 12U music equipment stand I purchased on eBay for like 10 bucks plus shipping.

Snapshot of the rack w/ my switch and servers

I am able to put my rackmount switch on it, a KVM switch, a 4U case that houses my file-server, and 3 2U cases that house computers designated for my mini Lightwave Reder farm. I love this setup and it is very compact.
