Mini displayport operation

Can someone please clarify whether these connections are sensitive to touch/pressure?

Mine always loses signal when I press or jiggle the cable. Never had this problem with ports like HDMI and USB.

Is it a downside to the standard or is there a break in the cable?

Looks like yours is sensitive to being pushed around.

Try a different cable.

Try a different port.

I have my laptop (mini-DP) and a never-ending stream of external projectors, and it's really not normal for minor bumps to jostle it loose. I have had to replace a Mini-DP->VGA adapter because of that, though.

I guess, thinner cables, so it stands to reason that they're a bit more sensitive to damage from normal use. Like i7Baby said, try a different cable; that's probably the issue.

Is it more likely to be the cable or the port? To test either I'll have to acquire another one since I don't have alternatives on hand.

Replacing the computer would be much more difficult of course.

I should make it clear that both were bought last week, this problem was there right from the start.

Cable's much more likely, also much cheaper to fix. 😱

If it's only a week old, at least you can return/exchange the computer?
