I purchased this adapter for use with my Sapphire 6950:
http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.751634
1)monitor dvi to dvi
2)monitor dvi to dvi
3)monitor DISPLAY PORT to adapter Mini DisplayPort .
The screen loses signal every 10 seconds or so and then pops back with graphical errors, comes back normal a few seconds later, and so on. What is the cause?
There is a difference between minor flickering you can live with and what I described. The monitor sometimes fully disconnects and Windows stops recognizing the monitor.
Monitor:2xLG flatron w2361v & Dell u2311h -os win 7 64bit

Have you tried each of the video card DP ports?

Have you tried the latest drivers?

You could try increasing the clock (memory clock) speeds of the card.

If you have enabled overdrive there is a glitch with the good old AMD drivers that might cause this for you. Uncheck overdrive and see if that helps.

Have you tried hooking the monitor up by dvi and see if the problem persists, just to verify it is the card.

Mine flickered until I got an active adapter. Put the flickering monitor on the side so you can still get to the start menu if the driver crashes. If you check around a high percentage of passive adapter people get some sort of flicker. Some have to reboot occasionally as well. Quite a few people ended up getting the active adapter to solve it like I did.

He is not using a passive adapter. According to his own post he is using a mini to normal DP adapter.

Yes. 5870 no problem.fear for both the mini dp adapter card or the packaging of the sapphire.
I expect a single-cable mini dp to dp for testing.

Which display flickers?

And if you switch the displays, does the next one also flicker?

Do you have the very latest drivers and is Eyefinity correctly set up in CCC?
