mini-coopers

The base Mini is coming with what BMW calls a steptronic gear box(fairly certain it's an option, not the standard). You don't have a clutch, but you can manually select the gears. The Mini-Cooper S only comes in a true blue stick shift.

You can get a Mini with a manual or automatic transmission.

I believe you have the choice of a 5-Speed Manual and a CVT Automatic.

Looked at the mini website.

With the Cooper S you can get either a 6 speed manual - with a clutch, or a 6 speed Automatic with steptronic.

That sounds like a cool system. Kinda like the paddle shifters or the funky shifter you find in WRC cars. Too bad it comes in such and ugly package (the mini itself).

The only people I ever see driving mini Coopers are...

Fat women and middle age men who have finally come out of the closet - after starting a family.

why? all the men you know drive minis?

The mini is the only car that I might end up buying on emotional impulse. I have no idea why either. I just find something novel about small cars.
