i know that for many this might be OLD news....but just in case...

If you have one of them cheap cases like i do....its WORTH it to spend a few minutes and remove the steel front/back fan grilles.

The fans are SO MUCH quiter and you get much better fan efficiency and airflow - for free !

I was surprised how easy this mod is..just take a plier and wiggle the connecting steel bridges 'til they break/pop...do this for all small steel bridges 'til the fan grill is seperated from the case and you have the opening without the grill.

CAREFUL !!!! Because you WILL have razor sharp edges/remains where the grill was... you can do this mod further and eg. sand the remains of the bridges down and put some tape/plastic around the opening so you dont cut yourself later.

This mini-mod applies for those old steel cases with the steel fan grilles...NOT the nice wire fan grilles. The wire fan grilles should be ok...you can also add one of those over the opinings afterwards usually.

ahhh.....d*rn the wife took the digicam 🙂

The "ok" ones :

The "bad" ones are the ones which are just holes or similiar punched in the steel of the case to make it an opening/grill. Basically most of the cheaper cases have them.

I removed my front steel "grill" and the back one, so i only have two holes there right now (doesnt matter for front since the case front-plate goe4s over it anyway)...and the back you dont see 🙂

MUCH quiter....and with "much" i *mean* MUCH 🙂

Most of the fan-noise is generated by the airflow hitting the grill....and this is now all gone.

I have the Antec P160, is it worth it to remove the fan grills and put in the one like the picture you showed?
