Minecraft Server (Offline mode) DCs the 2nd person connecting on LAN

So my girlfriend and I are trying to play on a server I hosted. I downloaded the server .exe from the Minecraft website, and I've changed it to Offline Mode in the server.properties file since neither of us have a Minecraft account.

One of us can join it at a time, but when we try to join together - the one already logged on will be kicked off and greeted with a message saying "Disconnected by server You have logged into another location".

I'm guessing it's connecting both of us by our shared public IP address instead of our private 192.168.1.2 / 1.4 so my server client is seeing 74.197.132.187 try to connect twice. So what do I do? I have no clue.

Well it's free to play offline, and the 1.6 patch added Offline Mode on servers your hosting yourself so...

Anyone else have any ideas?

Redstring, just to clear up any confusion. as far as I know minecraft is not free to play offline.

on a technical note, you might want to check your routing tables and make sure you connect by IP

You have to connect to the online server at least once in order to enable off line mode - hence, you need to BUY it.
