If you merged your mind with someone else's and you both became the same person mentally, with the same memories, would it bother one of you to jump off a cliff? Each person would live on in either body, so would it matter? If people's minds are just information, then that information would continue on so would it really matter?
The individuality of each person already came to an end with the merging, so upon realizing that they both exist in the body of the other person, would it bother one of them to jump off a cliff? If it does bother them, wouldn't that be irrational?

Are you basically asking whether or not a decision is based on one mind or the merged mind, and if not the merged mind would the other mind care?

Unless the mind meld was a continuing thing each new mind-melded individual would become individuals as their unique experiences differentiated the two.
In that case it would bother them just like it would bother someone if a close relative died (which is what they would be).

If there is a continuous mind melding then it would have an impact, but maybe even more so. It would be more like having a hand cut off. It was a part of you that you could move and feel and now it is gone. There is no way you would not morn that.

I agree. If the same mind was in both bodies at once, then that individual could choose to toss one of their bodies over a cliff, but that's not the case here. You got it right.

If you haven't already you should try to watch the movie The Prestige. It's relevant to your topic.
