Could anyone explain how the file path system in Linux works? Is "Home" the name of the disk itself, like "C:\" in Windows, or is it something else entirely? I cobbled together an old PC out of spare parts and installed Ubuntu on it, but it's given me a bit of a headache trying to make it do anything as I can't figure out how to give it the name of a folder.
Also, I'm a bit worried about security. The account that I'm running I'm pretty sure is not the "root" account, and I have no clue as to how to access it. (Yes, I'm stupid. You don't need to tell me that.)
I'm really quite impressed with Ubunutu though; it's a rather nice operating system. It makes the PIII-600 I'm running it on feel like a brand new PC. (That said, it really, really hates running on less than 256MB of RAM.)
