I am thinking about getting into Macs a bit. Is a 500MHz G3 with 640MB ram enough to run OSX semi decently?

Thanks

It'll run it (OS 10.3.9 or earlier), but kind of slow, though. I don't think it'll run OS 10.4 or later. Apple should have a minimum system requirement for OS X.

No, I'm fairly certain 10.4 will run. We got it to run on an iMac 500 mHz w/ 384 MB of RAM, just had to update the firmware in OS9 before it would let us.

it will run. but OS X is memory hungry. it implemented all the super cache features of vista first. the more RAM the better. 640MB is enough though.
