Millions of Facebook users, think that the internet doesn't exist.

It's interesting to see that many people only ever use Facebook and nothing else the internet has to offer.

Read the article:

Continuing on that statement, Facebook's Head of Localization and Internationalization, Iris Orriss, says that "Awareness of the Internet in developing countries is very limited. In fact, for many users, Facebook is the internet, as it's often the only accessible application"

Because they don't know any better. Like how when AOL 1st came out. I thought the internet was just AOL. I didn't initially grasp the idea/concept of a web browser.

I was gonna quote that, too. 'Cause it's dumb.

You're telling me phones in some places (other than, like, North Korea) ship without web browsers?

It's not about web browsers, these phones are sold packaged with social media apps (Facebook/Twitter/etc), and the data connection for these apps are *included* in the package, but that's it. The phones don't have any other connection to the 'Internet' allowed besides these included apps (there are probably options where they can add data and use browser, but they'll have to pay more). In other words, they have the phones to make phone calls, texts, and use these included apps. That's it.

I wonder how many people are still paying AOL to keep their awesome email address like GimpBear147 and Sparklekitten69

Looks like you can still rock unlimited AOL dial up for $4.99/month

I had an MSN username that was something like Maxpower9000. It was pretty awesome, now that I think about it.

I don't get it - browsing Facebook only takes like 10-15 minutes a day.

When they grow out of it will they ruin the internet like the aolers ruined Usenet? The walled garden can only hold them back for so long and then they will come flooding in.

had a RN friend of mine link on FB an article indicating coughing helps if you're alone during a heart attack. Right under her post was a suggested/related story linking to snopes saying it's false. Doh.

I love it when Facebook's awesome 'related news' engine is showing the exact opposite/rebuttal news right underneath the link/news that someone is posting. It is pretty comical, and it happens a lot :D
