Millenium will only run in 16 color mode

For some reason, Millenium will not work on my computer whenever I try to install any Geforce 2 drivers. What happens is that it either the screen will start flashing in random colors and crash, or it there will only be a black screen and then the monitor powers down. The only way that I can get inside the actualy operating system is to remove the drivers and let it sit in 16 color mode. Has anyone else had a problem like this? I would greatly appreciate any adivce from anyone about this..

You have been installing the 6.18 Detonator 3 drivers? Drivers previous to this version cause problems.
