Milksop at try posted optimized apps on the milkyway@home forums, which make the original a lot faster, however without using SIMD (SSE 1,2,3,...) instructions, just raw code optimization.

according to "L'Alliance Francophone" they speed up the crunching times 50-100x!!! According to their records a fairly popular Intel Q6600 now only takes 6min 30s to complete a WU, while the same CPU needs around 7h 30min with the old stock app.

Here are the download links:
Windows x86 app
Linux x86 and x64 app

original thread (Attention: use my download links or the links in the thread about half way down, the links in the 1st post contain an error in the app_info.xml file)

I couldn't test the new applications yet, since the milkyway server has a very hard time keeping up with the increased demand

EDIT: wow that app is unbelievable fast!
EDIT2: you get around 7x your reported claimed credit, let's go credit hunters!

Awesome!:Q

Although I'm a little worried about that kind of speed boost, usually if something's too good to be true it probably is!
Have you had a good read about to check it out?, I hope it's legit anyway :).

well the project scientist posted in the same thread, but he didn't say that the optimized app would create wrong results or anything and the WUs get validated normally.

Thanks, it was hidden and could not find it. I know the new version saves things into 2 folders.
