I'm going to keep my production up at least close to what it is currently until we pass BOINC@Poland in the overall standing in the next week or two, but if anybody else decides to that's totally up to them. Great work everybody! There were a lot of close competitions within the main competition which kept everything interesting.

The UN Squadron image isn't intended to show any stats or specific contributors or anything, it's just a cool "mission complete" image :)

I just added it up, 554,484,660 points crunched during this competition!!

Thanks Icecold :)
Race finished just in time for me to stay ahead of Kiska! ;)

Whilst I'll be turning the tap off for my 2nd rig, I'll keep going with my main rig until we pass Poland, stats for catching them would be good ;).

Here's where we're at now, but I would imagine that 'days to reach' number will go up as everybody lets off the gas a bit now that the competition is over.

Passing P3DN before the end of the year would seem to be off the table now. So maybe I will be gradually easing up and take some strain off the electric bill. Maybe...

I am tempted to keep GPU crunching after passing Poland, I'm furloughed atm so home a lot, MW is saving me turn on the heating during the day :). At least until it gets colder anyway (possibly tomorrow!). And as I'm mostly in the lounge it's keeping my gerbils warm too :).
I wonder if theirs any easy way to convert gas used to watts so I could compare the cost of the 2.....

My gas meter measures in m3 ;), I'll see if Google has something....
Yep, now I need to work out how much gas my central heating would use over a 5hr period, which will depend on outside temperature, hmm, easy said than done!

[update] For a 1hr period with it being ~9C outside it used 0.720 m3, the above site reckons that's 8.1811 kWh
On my main rig, running 10T Rosetta and dual MW WUs on the GPU it's drawing ~227w, with 12T Rosetta only it's ~116w, so ~111w running the GPU. For 24 hrs running the GPU adds 2.64 kWh, quite a lot less! But even today just running my main rig's GPU wasn't quite enough to keep it warm, so I need to find out what my 2nd rig draws too.......
My electricity charges, 15.72p/kWh and 21p/day standing charge. Gas is 3.25p/kWh, standing charge is also 21p/day (I need to shop around to see if that's still any good).
So for 24hrs GPU crunching that's 41.5p, and 1hrs gas is 26.6p (+ standing charge for both).
If so, it would take just an extra 2hrs heating per day to exceed the cost of running 1 GPU all day! (at 9C outside anyway).

[update2]
Lol, my 2nd rig uses ~110w idling!, running MW on it's GPU it's drawing ~228w (and CPU otherwise idle. When loaded IIRC it adds about 100w).
So running my 2nd rig 24hrs/day, GPU crunching only, would add 5.52 kWh a day x15.72 = 86.8p/day, slightly more than 3hrs of heating (with 9C outdoors temp).
Going by that, if I ran my 2nd rig just 6hrs/day it would be cheaper than running my heating an extra 1hr, sounds like a good excuse to GPU crunch! :D (assuming 2 GPUs can keep me warm enough to prevent me from having to turn on the heating any extra).

Are my maths right?

(I'm going to copy this lot into a new thread, done ).

I wonder if we'll be able to stay ahead when some of us back off?
We should be able to. @crashtech and @phoenicis have been running Milkyway pretty consistently for a long time(IIRC I joined in later when they were already putting up big points after I hadn't ran it for several years) and I would imagine that will continue for some time at least.. If anybody else decides to continue running it, though, it's appreciated. We are around 2 million points behind Poland, so we should pass them with tomorrow's stats update.

I will on my main rig until the folding race next month. I'll leave my 2nd rig on MW probably, but I will only be firing that up when I need extra heat ;).

I actually need to reduce my power usage since the days are getting shorter, so I’ll be setting my host to no new tasks tonight

My current plan is to leave the 280X running MilkyWay until one of these things happens:

* I get to 50M points in MilkyWay. (Just over 34M right now.)
* The 280X dies completely.
* I save up enough to replace it with something better that will fit in my daughter's PC.
* I save up enough to replace my daughter's PC and the GPU. ;)
