Milk Reaches Record as U.S. Exports Climb Amid Drought

Milk futures in Chicago jumped to the highest on record, signaling higher costs for consumers, as exports surge and a record drought threatens output in California, the nation’s top producer.

Milk futures for February delivery rose 2.2 percent to settle at $22.40 per 100 pounds at 1:11 p.m. on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Prices reached $22.46, the highest for the most-active contract since trading began in January 1996.

Retail Prices

The tight supplies and rising demand signal increased retail prices. U.S. consumers may pay as much as 3.5 percent more for dairy this year

A gallon went from $1.99, to $2.19 at Aldi's. Oh the humanity.

Its like they said there was a short supply of pecans on the global market and that prices were going go up significcantly. Shit, I still pay the same amount for pecans.

Here I am sitting in the dairy state taking a milk bath and hear bones snapping and pleas for some milk from the calcium deficient.

Sucks to be you. ;)

How much is a gallon of milk where you are?

It's $2.99 at the Aldi's near me.
