Abbies brother is supposed to be a Sgt. in the Air Force. It showed him in uniform with an enlisted mans Sgts stripes but with an Officers collar brass!

Did wardrobe really screw up here?

When I was in the service, the enlisted mans collar brass was a circle with the letters US inside it while the Officers was just a plain US like he was wearing last night.

I may be wrong about this if it has been changed since I got discharged. Id really like to know. Did I catch a big blunder or have the insignias been changed?

He was wearing an AF uniform. Didnt know the Army still had different insignia though. Thanks

Did some searching on GOOGLE. This was hard to find but the regs were changed November of 1994.

Enlisted and Officers in the Air Force both wear the same now.

8 years ago I would have been right! :D:eek:

EDIT: Just saw where the stripes have been changed also from when I was in. Same up to Tsgt but Msgt on up a little different.

... and all Airman stripes have the star colored in. No more "buck" Sergeant either. They moved the MSgt stripe above the star to make the top 3 enlisted ranks really the "Top 3".

Right. With 3 stripes I was an Airman First Class and that was changed to Sargeant just before I got out. My Honorable Discharge Certificate does have Sargeant on it. Today I would be "demoted" to just Senior Airman.

Still had Warrant Officers when I was in also. A way to get around the need for a college degree then to be an Officer for Chopper Pilots and the oldtimers could still earn it.

D'oh! I am dumb. Somehow I misread your original post to refer to the Army. I guess I need one more cup of coffee . . .

Me too! I refer to it now as Sergeant Basic, like Airman Basic.
