That article is pure Grade A crap! >>
Sorry, i disagree. I have a military background as well, and many of its points are dead on. Unless you disagree with the premise of the article,
"Wars are best fought by young, childless males," then i don't see how you could possibly make the contention that the article is "pure grade A crap."
The plain truth is that women in the military (and the attendant problem of pregnancy which comes along with it) and allowing married male soldiers in their initial enlistments to join, is causing a problem with unbelievable ramifications on the military. Allowing females to serve alongside males in close conditions, particularly aboard warships, is also a recipe for disaster. The Navy's average for females returning pregnant from a seaborne deployment is 10%. Here's a typical example:
"During a recent deployment of the carrier Theodore Roosevelt, for example, 45 of 300 women did not deploy or complete the cruise due to impending childbirth. Eleven of the 45 were flown off the ship while underway--probably in safe, carrier onboard delivery (COD) aircraft."
"The Center for Naval Analysis recently found that female sailors? "unplanned loss" rate (23-25%) is more than two and a half times the rate for men (8-10%). "
Both these are from
this report, which examines the question the Navy is deciding now, whether to put women aboard deployments of Trident nuclear submarines. Part of the evaluation? "If the women enjoy the excursion and disaster does not occur, the experiment will be declared a success." WTF????????
