MY favorite spoken word bit about this:

Die for Oil, Sucker
by Jello Biafra

Full spoken word MP3 here not this edited one! Cool! Jello let us D/L now with the Iraq war. A must listen for all patriotic Americans

you are just about the ripe age to be drafted. does that bother you? do you even think about that? there was a sign at jonestown behind jim jones' dead body and it said "those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it." which would you rather sacrifice your hot car or your life?

die for oil, sucker.

born on the firecracker fourth of july raised on football and mtv, never felt what its like to have to fight to stay free. Vietnam just a time life book memory. the mask is off again this time nobody cares but you can't keep dancing if your legs are blown away.

die for oil, sucker.

you too can get you face shot off so arms race tycoons won't have to get a real job. the cold war is over, it was all a mirage. we could use that money we got problems to solve, but were not allowed at the peace dividend because our psycho president has got his head in the sand. saddam hussain so egocentric, he even replaced Mickey mouse on watches with his own face. last spring he was our tyrant we thought we could use. we supplied him with all his guns and his nerve gas too. right now its the world's first tabloid war. there they are on cnn, flinging mud back and forth. if all wars were treated like game shows, great! the world would be a much happier place. but it won't last long with these egos involved. one shot at saddam he's going bomb Israel. after that hiroshima will look like a picnic and we'll all die for oil, sucker.

you too can get your spinal cord snapped to save greedy kings from the greed of iraq. give your life for a country where women can't vote and people still get their hands and heads chopped off. in saudi arabia they stone you to death for sleeping with another person's husband or wife. women can't go out alone, or show their face or even drive. and there's never elections, you can't even ask why. but they finally did outlaw slavery in 1962, so progress is being made. and they're sitting on something we can learn to live without but certain fat cat's bank accounts cannot, oil.

for this you get to be all you can be, a dead army, navy, air force, marine. come home one of those deranged unemployed vets, the kind they love to make tv cop shows about. just like tom cruise in a wheelchair. no film royalties cause nobody cares about you once you've been used to die for oil, sucker.

kill, kill, kill the poor even faster that crack, send them off to war make sure they don't come back. give them tanks that fall apart and helicopters that crash. 2000 died in panama cause the stealth can't shoot straight. 800 million dollar batman plane and it doesn't even work. no surprise when their idea of national security is screwdrivers costing 1800 bucks. a little sand in the engine can stop a naval destroyer. saddam hussain knows this but our networks don't report it as we die for oil, sucker.

and is it really worth it in this day and age to come out the winners of world war 3? think about it. once we take over that place well never ever beable to leave. bush talks about bombing a path to Baghdad 75 miles wide. and if the big bad wolf still won't give up we're going to drop the nuclear bomb and after that we'll just waltz right in to colonize their hearts and minds. but the arab people will be so damn mad we'll be lucky to get out of there alive. after that do you think any arab country will sell us oil?

think of the cost to keep our army there when the only way left to force oil out of the ground is soldiers guns treating arabs like slaves or was that all part of the plan. how long do you think that could possibly last?

they found a scam to replace the cold war it's called die for oil, sucker.

what's so sick about this is that theres is a better way. stop selling guns to arabs and to Israel. don't need to keep ourselves hostage to oil, use our star wars know how to build solar powered cars. one clerk in the patent office might be all it would take to find blueprints for a solar car general motors shelved away. but no thats to easy and theres money to be made, especially if you already have more than you'll ever need. for those of us who can't buy our way out like rich folks like dan quale do its burn you draft card, burn the flag, and burn the pentagon too.

so be all you can be and say no the air force, army, marines. get off your butt before your butt's blown off. don't die for oil, don't be a sucker.

As a democrat, I would prefer parents to be notified about any surgical operation on their teenage child (under normal circumstances, aka non-life threatening urgency). And I'm for parents who can deny a military recruiter from contacting their teenage child. So, where's my hypocrisy?

What? So all those "Patrioritc" speeches by the GOP, army recruiters, and war-hawk politicians are 100% true? Your response is completely laughable. You are no better than Rip.

The real reason why recruiters can get access to kids are because our education system has been dumbed down. Kids aren't getting educated well enough to think logically and "for their best interest". I've been solicited numerous times by our school's "friendly" Marine recruiter. I just told him , I"m going to college, I didn't need the military's help (thank god for HOPE), and I don't think I agree with current administration or with way government has been operating. He politely acknoledged my views, and hanged up. That was a good recruiter, and I do respect him for respecting my views. But what if I get a not so good recruiter? He'll probably end up yelling at me for being "unpatrioritic" and a "coward".

Why did I not join the Marines? Because I was informed and educated well enough to make a logical choice. I was lucky enough to have the motivation to educate myself and see through all the "patriotic" propaganda that is being fed to kids everyday. If I had to use military as an option to further my education, I would've thought about signing up and weight in the cosequences. But because I was fortunate enough to live in a state where HOPE scholarship was available, it made my chocie lot easier.

(Just as a side note, my friend did signed up for Marines and currently being trained in NC as infantry. I knew him very well, and I saw a valid reason for why he signed up for Marines. No, he wasn't "Patrioritic" nutwhack. He was going down a path of self-destruction through drug use, and just general "bad boy" attitude. He believed that a strict discipline of military will enable him to overcome his personal problems, and the financial benefit he'll receive will allow him to get a restart in life. I hope he does succeed and I hope he doesn't get deployed in combat zone. The last time I talked to him, he was a bit anxious to get to Iraq, so he can "kick some beloved patriot butt". I guess the military brain-washing is having an effect on his mind).

This is THE PROBLEM. Our government has been lagging in creating an educational system that enable the kids to have logical and informed mind. Without a logical and informed mind, that person, (kid or adult) WILL make a decision that is not to his/her best interest. So it IS the government's best interest to keep our education system dumbed down. A stupid populace is more managable populace. This holds true for any-type of government, be it commie or democratic. Our founding fathers EMPHASIZED that democracy can only truly work if the population is educated and logical. However, those in power doesn't believe in that.. No.. we can't have educated voters, that'll be CRAZY! (Just take a look at educational level of voters. Kerry received more votes from voters who had higher education).

People, you need to WAKE UP and smell the roses. Our government has became the corrupted whore of Corporate America. What the politicians do today are in the interest of those who are in power. If you sign up to do the dirty work for the government, you're really doing the dirty work for Corporate America. Unless you understand this, and you logically conclude that potential financial benefit outweights the consequences, then you are just brain-washed idiots.

BTW, just so no-one calls me "Peace Loving Hippie", I AM interested in military in general. I love researching and discussing about weapon systems and battlefield tactics. However, I'm educated well enough, to prevent myself to be used by Power Elites as a political tool.

Except at 18, they have the ability to actually refuse. Something those 6-month-old fetuses don't have yet. ;)

So, one must be on a self destructive path in order for joining the military to be in his or her self interest? Some people want to serve. There's nothing wrong with that.

If an 18 year old man (or woman) can't act in his own self interest then he'll never amount to anything.

You seem to feel like joining the military makes you a pawn of the eiltes. how does joining some company make you any less a pawn of the elites?

What's that? The *real* facts don't support your made-up facts? Looks like someone just blew their entire rant by showing that they were talking out their ass when trying to sneak in some anti-Bush crap.

Oh well - better luck next time.

What an ignorant comment. Yes, high school was so much more challenging in your day.

You're right, it's much more challenging to guess which one of four choices is the right answer.

The ASVAB (armed forces vocational aptitude battery) which the armed forces were allowed to administer to all high school juniors, used to be a more extensive (harder) test than it is now. (For those that took it 22+years ago, the unfolded boxes section is gone for sure, and two or three other sections got deleted.)

Also, don't forget that the SATs were "re-centered" some years ago, so that our kids got magically smarter from one year to the next. (In plain English, they lowered the average so scores would go up.)

So BBond's statement was indeed correct.

As for deptacon's Natl Guard retirement plan, could you please restate it in more specific terms. The way you have described it so far seems wrong.

hahah yeah, was a pretty stupid comment..... BBond did you have to walk 20 miles in the blizzard to and from school....and make 2 cents for working all weekend.... please.... do you ever not attack anybody, or put someone else down????

BBond, you hate the military, you hate recruiters, you hate christians, you hate republicans, you hate bush, and of that matter, anyone who works for him....

you also think kids a re stupid and can't make sound decsion, you think soldiers are stupid for shooting at the italian, you think bush, and with that everyone who works for him is stupid.....

basically, if they arent you, michael moore, john kerry, or hillary, they are stupid, liars, and murders right?

This from a college student.

Thanks for proving my point.

Your generation doesn't have the cognitive skills of my dog. You'll believe anything you hear from your government as long as it's presented as a sound bite, or on "reality" TV.

I walked to school. So what? And when we were in school there was discipline and actual learning happening. Not just memorizing propaganda, not learning what to think, actually learning how to think.

I don't hate the military. I don't agree with recruiters having unfettered access to high school kids. I am a Christian (just not the hypocritical Christian Taliban variety). I don't hate Republicans -- I hate the impostors who've ruined the Republican Party (and our democracy in the process). I am not particularly fond of the lying smarmy moron in the White House. And that goes for his lackies as well. They enable the idiot.

And yes, if Bush says it, judging from his past performance, you can reasonably expect it to be a lie.

I think kids should make sound decisions based on sound advice from their parents. I do think it's pretty stupid to shoot up a car full of Italian intelligence officers and a recently released hostage. But that car, or at least the pictures I've seen of it, didn't look all that shot up. And there were 300 to 400 rounds fired at it according to eyewitness reports.

Here's a chance to work on your cognitive skill. What does that tell you?

Bush and everyone who works for him aren't smart. They aren't stupid. They are cunning. And they are ruthless. Not the best combination of leadership skills in a democracy. But it is a great combination for liars and thieves.

They lied and their lies led to murder while they collect a nice profit while someone else's kid or spouse or sibling pays for it.

And you believe the sound bite about "freedom and democracy".

Bwhahahahaha

Wow, one slipped through!!!

Good for you, Razor2025. ;)

Are there any others?

LOL, how about you look closer at the statistics? I said higher education, I never intended to have it capped at Bachelors. If you were paying a little closer to my post, and not focusing on bashing on my post by a single statistic, you would've noticed that Kerry had more percentage from voters who were POST-GRAD. These people are WAY more educated than the GRADS. Therefore, my post still stands true, as the people who were educated the most made the decision to vote for Kerry. How about you try to find meaning ful to counter my post instead of bickering with numbers and statistics.

Thanks and TRY AGAIN

 So you take an 11% margin of a 16% share of one question to suddenly claim kerry voters are more educated? Buahahah!!! Why not take College grads with no post grad into account? that's a 26% share and Bush won that by 6%. So by all rights - Bush had more educated people voting for him than kerry.
Sorry, but you trotted out the misinformation(or purposeful distorted info) to attack Bush voters - so don't whine when it's challenged.

We didn't have multiple choice when I graduated high school. We actually had to know the answers.

What an ignorant comment. Yes, high school was so much more challenging in your day.

You're right, it's much more challenging to guess which one of four choices is the right answer.

Yes, cause I took multiple choice tests in high school. I'd urge you to withdraw this statement because it only detracts from your credibility.

W

No, his statements are not corrent. The SAT's were recentered because a much high percentage of people are taking the SAT's than in the past. In the past only the top high school students went on to college, so of course the average score was better. Now most people have to go to college so the average SAT score reflects more what the average person would get, not what the average smart person would get.

And I fail to see how the ASVAB has anything to do with the state of the schools. High school students don't take the ASVAB unless they are going in to the military. Most of the better high school students are college track, not military track.

Now you both sound ignorant.

CAD and CK, do you just look around on the web for statistics to nitpick about people's post? The posts by two of you have yet to address my MAIN POINT of my post. Instead of digging through statistics to post "ooo see? u're wrong on your number" type of comment, how about you actually post something that relates to the general point of my post? Try posting something meaningful like "no, the education system today is doing quite well". How about that? Why don't you address the issue regarding how military recruiter preys upon under-educated students? Which was the main point of my post.

If you're trying to have a constructive argument, then please post something that is meaningful. Bashing someone's post with statistic without addressing the main topic is completely meaningless.

Well, I did ask you several questions about your post but you ignored them. I'll try one more time. you said this:

"This is THE PROBLEM. Our government has been lagging in creating an educational system that enable the kids to have logical and informed mind. Without a logical and informed mind, that person, (kid or adult) WILL make a decision that is not to his/her best interest. No.. we can't have educated voters, that'll be CRAZY! (Just take a look at educational level of voters. Kerry received more votes from voters who had higher education)."

First, I see no evidence that there is significant group of young adults signing up for the military and then regretting their decision. Most people that can go to college, go to college as opposed to serving in the military. Our military is primarily made up of those that had no intention of going to college. If one does not go to college then the military is an excellent carrer choice given the type of jobs that will be available to them.

Second, you said this:

"People, you need to WAKE UP and smell the roses. Our government has became the corrupted whore of Corporate America. What the politicians do today are in the interest of those who are in power. If you sign up to do the dirty work for the government, you're really doing the dirty work for Corporate America. I asked you this allready in a previos post but I'll ask a again. How is joining the military any better then working directly for the corporatations? Aren't you still being used by them?

Lastly, just to make a few other various comments. We're talking about 18 year old men and women. I have not met these drooling babling idiots then can be so easily intimidated into signing up for the military that you seem to fell your school was full of. If their so dumb and so willing to sign up, then why do all the branches with the exception of the air force hace recruiting problems now?

I just feel you make a lot of sensational claims in your post but fail to actually support them.

here's something i found to be odd and stupid

it seems a 17 year old highschool kid can inlist in the army/marines/navy etc. and is given the responsability of killing people, but yet can't vote, buy porn, buy cigs, buy alcohol, or even drink it

since when is drinking a bigger responsability than fighting for your own life?

sorry if this is a repost

?? The only reason you got "bashed" was because you thought it necessary to throw in an off-topic jab at conservatives. Not only is this "smart people know liberism is right" retort bandied about here every 10 minutes, it's also inhererently incorrect. Maybe it's time you got a new bag of clichés from which to pull your elitist justification mechanisms?

Why do you think it acceptable to make high-and-mighty posts about the "real" problems, then litter it with misleading propaganda and bare-faced lies? Then, you have the nerve to attempt to belittle other posters for calling you out on it while avoiding addressing your "main point." Your attempt to deceive your readers invalidates any point you were trying to make, whether that point is technically valid or not. It's like sh1tting on a plate, then putting it on the table with the rest of the meal and expecting others to just wave it off and enjoy the "real" dinner.

Don't include the tripe if you don't want people to discuss it. It really isn't that hard.
