The job that you listed sounds very boring. Doubt you'll use it much. You looking at FT or reserves?

In the AF there's an expression that goes as follows for Security Forces (MPs): Cops Eat Their Own. It's a terrible job.

You got that right. Internally, MPs are brutal to one another. Hell, we don't typically require any kind of Internal Affairs investigators because MPs are quick to rat eachother out at every turn.

I have always managed to keep my nose clean, play by the rules and its paid off in my career. I've seen many MPs go down in flames for dumb shit though.

I believe in the AF many SF troops end up there because their ASVABs don't qualify them for anything else. I doubt that's true in the other branches - I think it's just because most AFSCs require a fair amount of trainability in some technical area.

I'm betting this comes from having prosecuted quite a few of them back in the day 😉

When I was going in, I was going to be 1N3X3 - Slavic Crypto Linguist.

Bad knee/hip that got discovered at the last minute kept me from shipping out.

If everything stays the same I will assess right under last year's 10%. Top 10% get their first choice and top 20% gets one of top 3. If I get in the top 10% I will branch MI with an Infantry branch detail. If not then my top 3 will be Infantry, Armor, FA in that order. But I have been considering MP. Not into the whole Aviation thing...

US Navy, 1980-1990

NEC (think that's navy enlisted classification) code 3385 (machinist's mate, nuclear power, surface) and 3395 (same, only supervisory), plus 4204 (steam propulsion maintenance supervisor).

Most of the first 2 years was schooling, followed by 5 years in the fleet, with a follow on 4.5 month class "C" school, and shore duty for my last 2.5 years. Loved the job, loved the people I worked with, HATED the politics!! 🙄

US Army active duty 21M, which is going back to 12M. 21M/12M is a firefighter. Currently deployed to the 'Stan!
