While i would say 90% think Natzi's see it. BUT that does not erase the fact that t he swastika was used for thousands of years before. just because someone does something wrong with it does not cancel out the history.

That building was built before WWII. I am Jewish, but am not dull enough to not realize the significance of the Swastika to other cultures. Hell, before the Nazi's most things in America were decorated with swastikas. There was a show in the History channel or something not too long ago. The swastika was used very widely before Adolf Hitler used it as a symbol of his regime.

it's you who is not engaging the brain. the distinction between perception and reality is a subtle one, I know, but you'll manage if you pay attention for a moment. while symbols do have a factual history, it doesn't matter what that history is unless people actually know it. you've already admitted that "90% think Natzi's see it.", and, if you can spare a couple of seconds to read my post correctly, you'll see that I said "it doesn't matter what it meant before [the Nazis]." How people perceive symbols is what given them their meaning--they don't affect people like some sort of magic independent of that perception. that concludes our lesson for the day.

Hindus still use it and don't care about what the Nazis did. The point is that it was used thousands of years before the Nazis took it.

You may be right because to most people, the swastika = always Nazi.

The hindu symbol is actually different than the one's the nazis used. (Its flipped)
