My dad wants to OC his 4800+ a little. He went into BIOS and played with the "Dynamic Overclock" settings and the system was totally unstable... when set it to 9% and 7% and the computer would restart itself while starting Windows.

Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4-F
RAM: 2 x Patriot 1024MB PC 3200 (2GB RAM)
PSU: 680W Pure Power ThermalTake
HSF: Stock

He read an article about a stock cooled 4800+ going from 2.4 to 2.7 ghz. He'd be happy if he could hit 2.6! Without getting into the thick of it, are these results possible on his setup? Any quick/easy way to do this in BIOS? I'm familar with overclocking Athlon XP bartons (set the CPU FSB and Memory FSB to 200, set multiplier, you're done) but this seems a little trickier.

Any help is appreciated!

Try durr... hmm. 12 multiplier.

217X12...
CPU vcore=1.5?
Memory timings = 2.5-3-3-7 1T TRRD=3 TRWT=2 TRC=12 TRFC=18 200 mhz divider

Try that and see if it worsk.

Well my 4200+ is at 2.618ghz with stock cooling, but you need to make sure you do everything properly, there is a stickied overclocking guide, you should probably read it. Basicly, you can't just start upping the FSB, you need to keep the HTT at 1000mhz or less, so before you increase the "FSB" you need to lower the HTT(sometimes called LDT depending on motherboard) from 5x down to 4x. You want to eliminate the ram as the limiter, so you need to use a multiplier to set the ram at a much lower speed, the settings very per motherboard. I wouldn't bother to use the dynamic OC settings, because it will just increase the FSB, and not take the HTT or RAM in to account..
