well bofore i said copper shimp big time suck. now i fine out it is not suck at all. well the reason is i have is a litte bend so i turn it over than it work extremly fine now.
here is my question
1gig@1.41gig with abit KT7a-RAID. with taisol 742092 delta fan 30cfm + artic silver and copper shim
my system tem 27c and cpu temp is 26 is that weir??? lowest tem is 26c max is 43c boot up temp is 31c volted 1.85 max sometime at mid night it get lower than 23c and system temp still remain 27c (i have 4cdrom and four hardrive and two 92mm fan underclock it to 5volt
before that 1gig@1368mhz set up are the same but no copper shim. system temp is 20c cpu temp is 24c max 53c can explain what going on???
max temp i use stap test 6 running about 2 hours1gig [email]Tbird@1410mhz1gig@1367mhz1gigTbird not over clock yet

The shim is keeping the heatsink flat.

Without the shim, the 24C to 53C jump is because you're only getting partial contact between cpu and heatsink.

The shim doesn't actually do anything to aid cpu cooling.

The other thing that could have happened: Did you take the cpu out before putting the shim on? could the thermsitor have moved?

then the only possible explanation would be that the heatsink wasn't sitting flat, or that the Arctic silver application wasn't as good prior to the shim.

testing has shown that the shim does nothing to aid in cpu cooling(it is actually the reverse effect).
