Mikewarrior...Correct amount of thermal compound?..

Hi...I see alot people say a thin layer and less than you think you need??
Silicone compound is white that came with my Alpha PAL..so how much is too much???

Also I saw you post you would put up pics of how to apply thermal compound ...where you able to do this??

no im not mike warrior but maybe this will help , thermal compound is used to fill in small (very) imperfections on the cpu die and heatsink surfaces.i try and apply it paper-thin.hope this helps.

Spread a glob of it in the center of the CPU.
Then spread it out with a razor edge, credit card edge or something else that is STRAIGHT and CLEAN.
On ppga and similar CPU's you'll notice a lot stays in the center.
