Mike Richter has retired from the Rangers.

That was expected. He was battling bad knees for the past few seasons. Hopefully, he will be able to walk for many years to come.

Yeah...it's cool that the Rangers are going to retire his jersey right away too. Well deserved.

I didn't know that. That is good.

Eventually, people will be watching hockey games with numbers in the hundreds because all the numbers < 100 will be retired for all teams. 🙂

Glad to hear they are retiring his number. Richter was one of the guys you rooted for, no matter what team you follow.

Richter Schmicter..... They retired my jersey in High School, but noone makes a fuss over that. Albeit, it was retired for sanitary reasons...but who cares. 😉

I'm glad to see he retired. Post concussion syndrome...bad knees...I'd rather see him out of the game and able to walk and think than still playing and then injure himself permanently.

Actually, Richter will only be the third person to have his number retired by the rangers.

I suspect that leetch and messier may also have their numbers retired.

He was no Patty Roy (Go Avs) but I liked Mike, and he doesn't need to come back and risk another concussion. The Rangers will go with Dunham this year and Blackburn as his backup?

No one is a Roy. Comparing him to the best goalie ever really is no comparison at all.

Marty Broduer will be the best goalie ever fairly soon.

I still like Ken Dryden 😀 Habs of the 70's Woot Woot 😀 😀 😀

Cheers,
Aquaman
