Mika's PProxy Buffers

Diffusion

Senior member
The buffers on core.teamanandtech.com seem to be empty about half the time I flush through them, why is this? It's kinda annoying because it makes me crack randoms, but I love the teamanandtech.com stats (Being able to see how many come from each of your domains is so cool). Anyway, anyone know how this could be allieviated, or am I flushing through the wrong pproxy?

Diffusion: If you instead of flushing directly through Mika's flush to the Round Robin (proxy.teamanandtech.com) you won't have any such problems I promise you... this is a round robin of pproxies that all flush trough Mika's so you can still track your stats there... you only remove some stress from the main pproxy and don't have to worry about stuff like that 😉

With love and respect your fellow TA member

Grr... and the day I finally got all my machines converted over to. Well thats a pain, I think that if things get worse I will change over, otherwise, its just to much work. Thanks for the tip though.

The Core is setup to be in almost constant communication with Dnet's pproxies; so it runs dry at times.:Q I am suprised that it's running dry as much as you say it is though, so I'm thinking you're just hitting it at bad times.🙁

Is core.teamanandtech.com the same as teamanandtech.dhs.org? Some of my earlier assimilations are still using the second address there...

They are still the same (same IP address, same computer). Either one should do. The suggestion about using the round robin system is a good one. If you put any future asslaminations on it, it will eliminate the problem.

Yes, they're both the same; though teamanandech.dhs.org will be going down sometime in the future.🙁

ViRGE - what do you mean by "sometime in the future"? Does this mean that I should change all my clients in the near future?

Because we don't own DHS, we can't garuntee that they'll allways exist; and as such, we can't garuntee the DHS domain names. So, we're reccomending that everyone switches to a *.teamanandtech.com addy, since we do control that.🙂

d'oh, that's a bummer. The only reason I sometimes prefer to use the direct address to Mika's instead of the round robin is that I can keep track of which hostnames fluch how many packets when I check my stats on Mika's statsbox. If I flush to the round robin, the packets are credited to those proxies, so I'm not sure where they came from. No big deal I guess, I'll have to start switching over for new assimilations...

I think Brad was looking into a way to assimilate all baby bovines into one stat page, but I could be wrong. We all know how busy he is, so I wouldn't plan on seeing it anytime soon.

Eventually mika.dhs.org and teamanandtech.dhs.org (teamanandtech.dhs.org was only meant as an interm for the real teamanandtech.com site) will no longer have a pproxy listening on those hostnames. This is mainly because those hostnames will move to different box (no longer pointing at Core). If you do not want to use the RR, please set your clients to core.teamanandtech.com. This address will always point to the primary TA pproxy.

Please note: I'm not sure what the time frame is before Mika changes the hostname referral IP's. I'd suggest that whenever the opportunity is open to fix one of your clients, please do so. Thanks!

Jay, yeah, I have an alpha version of the combined stats working. 🙂 I would have put some time into it this week, except I'm out sick. For some reason I always come down sick over the holidays! ARGH! :|
