migrating from workgroup to domain

I hope this isn't too much of a tard question and that I'm overlooking something simple...

I have to migrate a 12 computer office from a workgroup to a domain. (New sbs2003 going in).

They are all XP or 2000 machines. (well, except for one cranky old nt4 server).

I have had the hardest time in the past migrating users consistently. That is, since there is going to be a new domain created, each user will be logging into the domain now instead of locally, and their OS's will see them as a different user. Thus all their settings will change, I have to move their files, email etc to the new user folder in documents and settings.

I have found that the files and settings wizard works only sometimes at best.

Is there some smart way to do this?

Yes, what you are looking for is the USMT (user state migration tool). I believe it will migrate those settings from the individual machines over.

 for moving away from your workgroup!
