I'm thinking about getting Win2K and I'm coming from Win98SE. I'm a heavy gamer. Half Life, Q3A, UT, Ever Quest, etc. Does Win2K support all/most of these games? Win2K now supports DirectX, right??? I'd rather go w/ 2K over ME also since I like the 'based on NT' idea. And to me ME sounds like its mostly a few visual enhancements and some extra networking options.

What do you think? Is Win2K ready for gamers???

My system:

K7 500 (soon to be oc'd)
128MB PC133
9.1GB 7200 IBM Deskstar
Matrox G400 32MB (currently at default clock)
Asus K7M Rev. 1.04
SB Live! Value

It's nice when you get things running because it's stable as hell.

UT works fine, and Half life works for me. Quake is supposed to work and Everquest I don't know about.

WHat I like is, from what I understand, you won't have any of those lame a$$ "system resource" problems like you do in 9x. Meaning, you have 128MB of Ram, you have that much Ram.. not 78% resources free blah blah blah unless you use up 22% of your RAM.

Don't get rid of 98, but you'll love having 2k and find yourself using 9x less and less.

Yeah, I'm actually on 2k now, pretty nice. Always there when you need it. Hasn't crashed/locked up on me yet. Been up for about a week now.

Thanks for the info. Now I just have to find it for a decent price. I've seen $250 for the full vers. (not upgrade). Will the upgrade vers. upraged Win 98 SE or just NT???
