I'm trying to help my girlfriend migrate her boot drive on an early 2008 mac pro from an HDD to an SSD and I want to avoid alignment issues. The plan is to go from whatever 320 GB HDD boot drive the mac pro came with, to a 250 or 500 GB Samsung 840.
My plan of attack was to either:
1) Image the drive (I typically use Terabyte Image for Linux for this sort of thing.
OR
2) Cloning the drive with CCCloner and then just swapping the SSD in.
Will either of these work? Or are they both bad? If so, could anyone point me in a better direction?
Edit:
I forgot to note this, but because we lack access to installers for a few key pieces of software she uses, it looks like clean install is probably out of the question.
