might & magic heroes VI (HOMM6?)

anyone following this? it's supposed to come out soon. i just found out about it the other day, i'm a big HOMM fan but didn't enjoy HOMM5 and this 6th one seems very similar to 5. imo, something feels lost ever since they switched to 3D engine, hopefully this one will be more substance instead of visuals.

HOMM2 and HOMM3 ate up a big chunk of my life. I never got a chance to touch 4 and 5, but heard it wasn't as good as the older ones. I'm definitely looking forward to this one. There hasn't been much hype for this one but I'm hoping it will be a fun and polished game reminiscent of the old series.

The random map generator on the old versions were awesome. That is what made the game once you got out of the campaigns. HOMMV was fun, but replayability dropped for me without the random generator. (Now, what would be funny is if there is one, and it has been there all along)

I preferred 2 and 3.

And 6 looks almost exactly like 5, so why bother?

I actually thought 5 was really good. 4 sucked ass, but 5 I thought was very much like 3 except with pretty 3d graphics. I still like going back and playing 3 the best though. The game is very nice in 2d.

I didn't even know they were making 6. I bought 5, but ran into some crap with SecuRom, had to get a fixed exe from the publisher to play it. It worked, but the experience kinda soured me. At least, I picked it up on a ~10 dollar sale from GoGamer.

luh luh luhved 2, 3 & 4. I loved the backstory, the environment, the game play. May dig up 4 and start playing it again. 5 was an atrocity.

The premise of 4 was that the world the first 3 took place in was destroyed and some escaped it through a portal to another land/dimension. So you see some of the old characters pop up...but not all.

Very much so, been playing since homm II. I actually just started a homm III + Wake of God mod last night. Running on this rig the AI takes ~1 sec to complete the turns for 5 computers 🙂

I really liked 2 and 3. The "oh, one more turn" took over a large amount of my free time 🙂 I bought 4 and tried it for a while when it first came out. Could not get into it. I tried the demo for 5 and I thought to myself the Heroes of Might and Magic series was over. The 3d graphics just dont feel right for this game.
Just my opinion.

This.

They pissed me off with the treatment of Nicolai in the V story, so I stopped playing almost at the beginning. I remember 2 and 3 being the most fun, I forget 4.

4 might actually be better - there's the 'ohmigosh' to new games that are innovative that makes us forget some flaws.

There's a web site HoMM now that doesn't seem too fun, hours of rea ltime for some moves.

I loved 2. Played that forever. 3 was excellent too.

4 sucked. 5 was decent but I agree that the 2D graphics worked better.

I played 2 back in the day and enjoyed it. I picked up 5 in lat year's Steam Winter sale but haven't got a chance to try it out since I had also gotten BF:BC2 and ME2.

3 was good, and 4 had some good ideas but the game was marred by AI incompetency bug. still, i enjoyed 4 a lot and really enjoyed fighting with the heroes.

<3 King's Bounty on the Sega Genesis 🙂 Vampire army ftw.

I'm pretty sure my dad has invested more hours in HOMM3 than any other game.

Loved HOMM3, I also quite enjoyed King's Bounty: The Legend & Armored Princess. In fact with HOMM5 being as lousy as it was I think the KB series is of higher quality and fun.

i dont remember, but did 5 have RMG?
HOMM3 holds a lot of replay value due to the RMG.
sometimes im amazed at the maps they generate.

I actually never finished the entire campaign, just started ding the random maps and just got hooked on that like crack cocaine.
