Might buy laptop for christmas; What video card is decent for these games?

Hello, I might buy a laptop for myself this christmas, however I dont know what video card i need on the laptop to play the games i play the most, Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Quake 3, at acceptable framerates.

I have been looking around and on most "cheap" laptops ($1100 or less) I have found the following:
1. Radeon IGP
2. Radeon Mobility (is this one the same as #1??)
3. GeForce2 Go
4. ECS integrated video

Will adding extra Ram or getting a faster processor help a lot with the FPS on a laptop? Or does it depend more on the Video card?

Thanks!

More like video chip.I would try those games on a demo at a local shop before I spent $1100 on a laptop. If you buy off the net,you will have a hard time returning the lappy with the excuse that your frame rates blow playing a vid game.

Yep - lappies don't have cards. They put the video chips on a module that is proprietary to the lappy in question. But, in general, you would be looking for a lappy with an Nvidia or Radeon video system. There are several, but they are usually in the high end models.

The Radeon Mobility 9000 just came out; that should do the trick. I can play those games fine with my 32meg Radeon and the 9000m is much better than my card. You'll be happy with one.

wait till nvidia releases their new mobile gpu(may be a fortune, and be released in a long time) but it blows away the highest radeon, and can keep up with the gf4 mx 420 sometimes the 440

preview sumwhere on anandtech
to lazy to look

nourdmrolNMT1, i heard about a geforce 4ti 4200 for laptop - isn't that good enogh or is it still not launched?
