Might be time to get a new TV?

I recently hooked up my HT system to my Computer, PS2, and TV.

Something I noticed is that with the inputs, there seems to be what looks like a horizontal boxes that run veritcally across the TV. To better describe it, there will be light areas of the picture that stretch horizontally across the TV, that scroll vertically along the picture.

I tried connecting the inputs directly to the TV, I tried connecting the components one at a time, and I tried connecting the components through the receiver, and all result in this problem.

I haven't noticed this problem with regular cable.

Any suggestions on what to do? The TV is just a crappy 24" Daewoo.

does it bother you that much? I don't think i'd mind, then again I don't know wtf it looks like. If you got the $$$ i'd get a new tv, if not just fsck it. Who cares?

You ever see what it looks like when someone videotapes a computer monitor? Something like that.

It wouldn't kill me to spend a couple of hundred on a new TV, but if it's an issue that I can correct, why spend the money?

Not yet, but would it really be the cables?

The computer is hooked up via S-Video, and the PS2 is hooked up via the RCA. The PS2 cables have worked fine for years, so I wouldn't think they were finally going.

A 24" standard definition TV? You do know you can get another one off Craigslist for $40 right?

$40 is $40. If the problem is not correctable, I'll get a new TV. If it is, I'd rather save the money for something else.

From your description in the first post it sounded like you had everything plugged in through 1 input on the TV. Bad cables or poorly insulated cables too close to a power source can cause noise in the picture.

Thanks, I'll check on it.

The setup as of right now is:

PS2 RCA > Receiver > TV (RCA/Video1 Input)
Computer S-Video > Receiver > TV (S-Video Input)

With this setup the noise could also be from the receiver. Try plugging the PS2 and PC directly into the TV and plug the audio out from the TV into the receiver input. If your TV has no audio out then just plug the video directly to the TV and run the audio into the receiver.
