Might be time to cancel cable.

I have been without for years. I can put $90/month towards a lot of other things. Join the club!

Anyone else caught off guard by this?

Not yet, I'm an RCN user though Beattie.

I'd be fairly unhappy. Next month I have to shop around for new cable. Basically whoever can offer basic cable at the cheapest will be the winner.

If RCN is available in your area, have a look at their service TwiceOver; w/ basic cable, you do not need any converter boxes and they will wire your entire house to all cable ready sets and you only pay one flat monthly fee, not a bad deal IMO :)

I'm in the "Stix". I have two choices with cable, Knology and Midcontinent Communications. Originally Knology came in and wired my entire house for free. I have TiVo so as long as everyone still sells cable in standard definition, I'll be happy.

I'm stuck with Comcrap so I had to go through the digital transition stuff months ago, as I was on the standard analog cable package, the cheapest one you could get. All I had to do was go pick up a converter box which was provided for free, and now I have a fancy channel guide and pay the same as I did before. I am moving soon so I'm going to get Digital w/ HD, don't know if I should use Comcast or RCN (pretty much my only choices.)

With all the good things I hear about Comcast, I can't wait to start using it regularly for my internet and tv when I move out of the dorm and into my apartment next month. My parents are already love Cablevision so much </sarcasm>. Sometimes, I wish they would give Cablevision the boot and go with FiOS which has been available for the past year and a half now.
