Midtown Madness 2 under Windows 2000

Game ran fine in Windows ME. Installs and runs in Windows 2000, but this is what the cars look like:

Are you using a 3dfx video card?...I have that same problem with my Voodoo3 2000 under W2k if I install the latest 3dfx drivers or if Direct X 8.0 is installed, try Direct X 7.0 with 3dfx driver version 5.0.2195.17 (1/31/2000)and your good to go.

I have DirectX 8.0, but a GeForce 2 MX card. Can I uninstall DirectX 8 and it will go back to 7 safely?

Install the MM2 patch. It will fix the problem regardless of your Direct X.

And regarding your question of DirectX:

No, you can't. The only way to "go back" DirectX versions safely is a reinstall. Sorry .

Ben what patch are you talking about? The only patch for MM2 that I know of fixes problems with Intel 810 graphic chips...no help with the 3dfx cards :|

I saw that patch too, but didn't think it applied since I have a GeForce2 MX, not an Intel 810.

Just download the mm2pat.exe file and install it before I smack ya.

i dunno what you're doing wrong. i have a geforce 2 gts, very similar and midtown madness 2 worked for me. the cars looked great.

GeForce2 Ultra
Direct X 8.0
Windows 2000
The rest of the sys info is in my rigs profile.

I had to install the patch to get it to work. Otherwise I get the exact &quot;look&quot; you do.

kelesh3 is a moron. I don't understand what purpose his post was supposed to serve.

lol I dunno what purpose it served either. I installed the patch, but the Midtown Madness I had was a Warez rip, so now it tried to verify the CD. Now I gotta go buy it. It's all good though.

I'm gonna buy it in the next few days....I'll let ya know!
