I have a motu 828, which is an audio recording card. I used to use the microsoft s/w midi driver to play midi files through the sound card in windows 2k, but windows XP doesn't seem to have that driver. Any suggestions on how I can play midi files?? Or where to get those drivers for XP?? Thanks!

I dont think the question was very clear. I just need to be able to play midi through a sound card that deesn't have a midi wavetable. Win2k came with drivers to do this (I think it was called microsoft s/w midi synth, or something), but XP doesn't. How do I get them for XP?? PLEASE help!!

Ok, is there anyway to get the GS wavetable driver installed, if windows didn't install them automatically. Or is there a similar driver, which would also work, that I could download? PLEASE HELP! I need midi for recording (metronome) and Tabit!!

I have XP and I have a Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth listed as an available midi device.

Likewise - I have XP Pro, and the MIDI plays through Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. Works great. I also have drivers and software for a Yamaha synth . . . but the XP native version is better.
