I was trying to post this on the futureproducers forums but I can't seem to connect I always gets some token missing error. Any ways, I have an M-Audio Axiom 49 midi controller, and I'm wondering if it's normal when I unplug it I have to reboot when I plug it back in or it won't come up. Windows gives me the BEEP when I connect so it's sensing it. My desk is pretty small so when I'm done with the keyboard I unhook it and put it to the side. I find it kind of frustrating every time I re-hook it back up I have to reboot to use it.

Windows 7 64 is the OS, but that shouldn't matter as it has no drivers.

seems like a strange issue. Are you connected via usb? what software are you using and have you tried other software to see if you have the same effect? Did you have this problem on vista or xp? I'm not totally up on this controller does it have any audio capabilities? You should also check in your control panel software and check sound devices and one other sorry I'm on my mac but i think game devices or something. Could be lots of things but on a hunch i would say the driver isn't ready for windows 7.

Maybe it's because there are no drivers for the Axiom 49 with Windows 7 yet.

EDIT: Just to add, M-Audio used to make their beta drivers publically available via the above link. It looks like you now have to sign up for their beta program. Try that, OP.

Yeah connected via USB, I use Reason 4 with the latest patch, but I've tried others just to make sure it wasn't reason. The controller is just a controller, any audio it does will be via whatever midi software I'm using.

According to M-Audio This device will work as a class-compliant device. No driver is needed for basic use. it's supposed to be totally plug and play and work without any drivers needed. As far as I know M-Audio isn't making Windows 7 drivers for it period, they still don't even have drivers for Vista 64.

Maybe there's something in the Windows 7 beta that's funking things for me. I still am running the original beta, maybe I should upgrade to RC.

The controller is class-compliant only when using the default USB drivers with WinXP and Vista. Text

Have you tried removing/ejecting the device via the 'Safely Remove Hardware' feature?

The majority of that controller's functions will work using the default XP and Vista drivers, but M-Audio does build drivers for it.

Did you go to the link I posted? There are three Vista 64 drivers available; one for the base install and one each for SP1 and SP2.

Did you sign up for the M-Audio driver beta?

Definitely do this ASAP. I had issues that were fixed in the RC. (motu interfaces here)

this is why you should always be a little late to the party when making big changes to your system if it matters more then just being an enthusiast.

cool. how do you like it? I'm thinking of picking up a motu interface for the volta plug in as I'm into modular synthesis and cv gear. I'm running lucid 8824 converters and a 002 for work but I am thinking about doing something like this for pleasure.

SQ is very good. They've gone through their share of driver issues particularly in the 64 bit world. Some users have reported issues with certain firewire adapters but that's pretty typical.
