Unacceptable. I wouldn't allow my kids' password to be revealed to those twats. Revealing a password under duress isn't acceptable under any circumstances. Even if it was a court order, I'd recommend my daughter "forget" the password, and I'd support her 100%.

This was one person and it was the Police, not the school. She was probably up to no good and now her and her "not my child" mom are crying victim.
In other news, who fucking cares. Privacy is a joke.

There are much more horrible injustices happening in the world than a little girl's facebook status being read.

It appears they need the parents permission for it but don't see if they got it or not as it only said the school said they did but no comment from the parent.

Assuming the school's claim that they got permission from the parents is accurate, then I see no problem. If not, I cannot see how this is legal.

This is pretty common at our school (and has been for a couple of years now). They don't ask for the password directly, but they have the student log in and show them the page with the (in-school) officer present.

I've never understood why the student can't just say they don't own the account involved. There are enough instances of people creating fake accounts with other student's names that it's not impossible.

How about telling them to F off?

Because kids in school are scared of the repercussions? Its easier for them to give the password rather than getting detention and then finding a lawyer to sue.

Although if it was me I'd say fuck off.

And C) i would get on and change her password

my daughter knows not to give her password of her phone to anyone (including school teachers) i think it's time to tell her not to give facebook either.

Wait saying that a teacher/monitor was mean to you gets you detention now? My entire high school would have had detention every day.

Someone overhears your friend talking about how she received from you an email in which you said that the monitor is "mean." The school then demands your email password from you.

Someone overhears your friend talking about how she received a text from you in which you said that the your history teacher is "senile." The school then demands your cellphone.

Someone overhears you telling your friend on the phone that Sammy is fat. The school then demands wiretapping.

The solution is to tell the school to F off. They can't do anything to you. They have no power. If they bring the pigs in and they tase you its free $$$$.

They have to pick on 12 year old girls. If it had been a 200 pound linebacker they'd be too afraid he may fight for his rights.
