Mid- Vs. Full Tower

I have a Mid-Tower case (pretty generic)

I move a lot of air through it (case supply fan, and an IStorm2 for inlets. Enermax (EG465P-VE) PSU, PCI slot fan, small exhaust fan in stock mounting behind HS for outlets) but the case still stays tooooooo warm.

I've tried to be careful about cable/wire routings to allow airflow and have the case away from walls, but still toooooo warm.

I don't like the asthetics of hacked up cases so I don't consider that to be an option which makes it so I don't have a good means for more air moving devices.

In your opinion, would I see much difference if I switched to a full tower case?

Get an Antec SX case or one of its OEM cousins. Two high output exhaust
fans are all that you need.

Yes, you would see an improvement with the full tower, but you'd also see an improvement with a brand name mid tower too. Antec and Lian Li make good cases for airflow. The Antecs are more affordable, but I like the Lian Li's aluminum construction.

Hey! Thanks for the inputs.

I took a look at the Antec cases and they are probably just what the doctor ordered.

Only snag is that I have no need for another PSU. (I have EnerMax EG465P-VE now).

Do you know where/how I can find the cases without haveing to pay for the PSU?

(The rest looked ideal for me. Looked easy to work with and I like the dual in/out fan arrangement of the Mid.)

I probably won't spring for an Aluminum case.... I'm gonna try and move enough air that conduction would not be a significant heat transfer path.:)

Is your computer on a desk, or is it on the floor? I noticed that I got lower temperatures when my computer was sitting on the floor, rather than next to my monitor, and everybody knows (and if they don't, they should) that cold air sinks below warm air.

They're on the floor. It's a pretty good air space.... One of em has some warm air collection behind it. this is a drag because my exhaust > supply and some warm air gets dragged back in. This case runs 2 degrees warmer than the other which is too warm also.

Worst part is of floor location is the dustbunnies... (hardwood floor)

but please............. before you post it....... yes, I keep the openings/fans/boards cleaned/lubricated/kissed & hugged. :p
