Mid-Range Card for New System

Hi, I'm building my first system and I can't decide on a video card. I was going to go with a Radeon 9600 XT 256MB, but I see that it did poorly on the Doom 3 tests. Here is my system so far:

Asus A7V600
Athlon XP 3000+
512 MB Crucial PC3200
Maxtor 80GB SATA

I'm looking to spend $150-200 and hopefully on the low end of that. Also if you have any suggestions for my system that would be great.

If you want a card that will do good on Doom 3, nothing at the $150 point will be acceptable to you if you think the 9600XT did poorly. Get the Radeon 9800 Pro or save a little more and get a regular 6800.

There's actually an MSI 9800 Pro that you can flash to a 9800 XT since it's got the R360 (XT) core. And it's only $196.
 
im not really interested in Doom 3, i dont even think im going to buy it, but i just saw how much worse it did compared to all the other cards...ill check out the ones you recomended, thanks
