Hi --

I started this as part of another thread over on motherboards, but really should move it here I guess!

I need an economical video card for mid-range gaming at a Spnish internet/gaming cafe. Looking at the guides on this site July 2001 the recommended products where the ATI Radeon 32MB DDR ($68) or the GeForce2 PRO 64MB ($142).

The November guide recommends the GeForce3 Ti200 at $172, which seems like an enenrmous jump in both performance standard as well as price! I'm reading that there are very few games which can make use of the GeForce3 gpu as yet anyway.

I also see recommended in this forum the Visiontek GTS-V at $65.

Do I *really* need to buy into the Ti200 right now, or will the ATI or Visiontek suffice? Any other cards round this price point that I should look at?

Any one got any thoughts?

In hope,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Welcome to the Forums. You may want to refer to a thread I started a couple of days about sub $100 Video Cards. It has some useful information in it.

Budget Video Cards

Ideally I would have gotten the card most people recommended which was the Visiontek GeForce NVIDIA Titanium but I have to make my purchase from the Gateway Accessory store and they don't carry that one.

Hope that helps.
