Mid or low top cleats for intramural flag football?

My friends and I set up an intramural flag football team and sadly, I learned that tennis shoes just don't cut it when everyone is wearing cleats and have the advantage in traction over you. I'm a 5'7" 135 lb player (and lightest on my team by about 15 lbs) and usually play wide receiver or cornerback because I have one of the fastest accelerations on my team. The question is though, should I get lows for the advantage in speed or should I get mids for that extra ankle protection in case I roll my ankle? I know I should be getting detachables in the long run though. No one on my team tapes their ankles, but I do see some football players with braces.

Also, how big of a difference does a few oz make in shoes (13 oz to 14.4 oz, or 11 oz to 14.4 oz, etc.). My tennis shoes are around 11 oz, and the low cleats I was looking at is around 13 oz.

Go with lows. I got them my senior year and mids all other years and it was great for me(WR/CB). If you roll your ankle the damage will be the same regardless of shoe.

Hmm, would you recommend soccer cleats over football cleats under that position too? Since they are lighter, but without the toe spike.

it's intramural flag football and you are worried about a couple ounces of weight in the shoes? It's not like you are trying to shave time off your world record 100 meter sprint.

Only metal cleats you can get are baseball ones. If you plan to keep them for a while, buy shoes that have replaceable cleats.

Inregards to weight - if you were running long-distance it might be an issue but it won't matter for flag football.
