Mid or full tower cases with foldout motherboard tray?

I'm looking for a case with a foldout motherboard tray, so that I can easily swap things out and install new parts.

I won't be OCing so fans aren't at a premium.

About my only other requirement is that it have a good number of hard drive slots.

What's a list of cases with foldout trays like this?

Slide out trays have become not so popular so you cant select on a search on newegg and find them. However, some manufacturers made an ATX cube case design with the drives and the power supply below the motherboard with the motherboard in a horizontal position. The obvious problem is it makes a large rectangular case which takes up a lot of desktop space.

Cooler Master HAF XB $189 seriously expensive.

I think you can get this for $99 at Newegg but they don't have any in stock. Shows an alternate supplier.

There is a similar design for MATX with the motherboard in a vertical position and a clear window on the side with the Fractal Design Node 804.

Again this is like a cube.

Although they dont make that same one... they have simular ones available for sale.

I used to use Racks all the time when i did testing, and it doesnt get any easier to swap things out then a rack..

only problem is the dust...

Thanks guys.

Yes I know you can't just search on newegg for them easily, that's why I'm hoping to compile some sort of list.

Does anyone know of any others?

I don't really understand the need for such a specialized case. Installing parts in a normal case is easy enough, no?

It would be much easier in a case with a foldout mobo tray.

I have 4 hard drives and two graphics cards, things get very cluttered.

I would just buy a case with plenty of room. Almost any full tower supporting EATX boards and removable HDD cages will be easy to work with using an ATX motherboard. NZXT H630 for instance, or Phanteks Enthoo Pro.

I tend to agree with the fact that the trays are kind of obsolete. The benefits they gave you were really only for installing a motherboard/CPU. After that, the cable routing was such a pain since you needed to make sure you wouldn't pinch anything when moving the tray in or out. Current cases with all the passthrough holes on and around the motherboard position and holes behind where the CPU is located (for rear access for bolt-through cooling kits) really removed all the benefits of access that a slide out tray originally gave you.

The HAF XB EVO is one nice case IMO, especially for an HTPC if you are looking for something that is shelved with stereo equipment. My friends and visitors don't even notice it until I point it out, they think it's just part of the stereo gear in the cabinet. Good airflow and easy to work on so it fits my needs perfectly. If I could get one that was a bit more than two times its size for my main system I would snap it up in a heartbeat. I currently use a Codegen S-201CA double wide monster now and while I have powder coated it and customized it to no end, that HAF XB would be nice in a larger size.

I had a bunch of Lian-Li cases a few years back. Most of those had slide out trays. I've since switched to fractal design cases without slideout trays and I don't miss it at all. I still have 2 full sized Lian-Li towers that i'm wondering what to do with. Probably end up donating them to charity and claiming it on my taxes. They are still basicly mint condition but I can't be bothered with trying to sell them.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I've decided to get a mid tower, not a full tower. And I'd like lightweight so I'm probably going with aluminum. That narrows down the selection a lot, I think mainly to Lian Li? Aluminum is their specialty right?

Which mid tower Lian Li cases have a sliding or foldout motherboard tray? Or other brands with aluminum cases.

Yeah, if you want lightweight and aluminum Lian Li is where it's at. Just go to newegg and browse their models. Hopefully you can tell which ones have the slide out trays (if any?). That might be a thing of the past, i'm not really sure if they still do it.

@digiram - If you're in the Phoenix area we should be able to work something out, just pm me. I don't really want to ship them. Too much trouble.
