Microwaving disks

How come when you microwave a disk it sparks?

It's the, um, flourescence.

sparks as in shoots out arks of electricity aka sparks (I think, I never microwaved a CD). Not sparkle (flourescence)

EDIT: Actually, not only have I never microwaved a CD, the only non food thing I ever microwaved was a hot water bottle.

Sounds like a real stand-up girl. Rather than discussing her issues like an adult, she bbq'd her neighbor's cat. Cruelty to a defenseless creature is disgusting.
