So my xbox live account got suspended today... i dont know for how long...
It's supposed to be for something in my Motto, Bio, Location, Name and/or Personal Picture that violates their codes of conduct blah blah blah.

My profile information hasn't changed since I created my account in November 2005...

If I remember it correctly, my "bio" said "Pimps gotta do...."

That's it! and I get suspend over that after 4 years?
That's so bullshit. They should either take action right away (word filters, block the entry or otherwise punish right away) or just forget about it. 4 years, seriously? If they have a problem with it after 4 years, they should just change it.

The best part? There isn't really anything I can do about it! Read the comments here, other people have tried to find out info and failed. http://pbsea.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!92EC76F578351439!413.entry?wa=wsignin1.0&sa=315343533

So fuck you, Microsoft!

I'll never use Bing anyways! No one else will, either!! I bet that Stings, doesn't it??

Notification of Temporary Suspension: Inappropriate content in your profile

[ DO NOT REPLY to this email address. It is not monitored. ]

This email is to notify you that your Xbox LIVE account privileges have been suspended due to inappropriate content in the profile for your gamertag. The inappropriate content was discovered in the Motto, Bio, Location, Name and/or Personal Picture.

Your profile was brought to the attention of the LIVE Enforcement Team through complaints filed by other Xbox LIVE users or in the course of our operation of the service. Microsoft expects that all customers abide by the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct provides guidelines for appropriate behavior while using the service. Your failure to abide by the Code of Conduct in the future may result in, among other things, longer suspension periods or cancellation of your account.

You can view the Xbox LIVE Code of Conduct from the Xbox LIVE Dashboard under Xbox LIVE Policies in Account Management, or by visiting http://www.xbox.com/live/codeofconduct.htm.You can view the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use by visiting http://www.xbox.com/live/termsofuse.htm.

yeah this post is broken alright, got one guy testing and one 10x post.

Yep.

When I started the thread, it brought me to an empty thread with no original post.
When I tried replying, it would just never be there...
Really weird...

from what I've read these are not just random suspensions from MS, these usually come about after somebody files a complaint

did you talk smack or something like that to piss somebody off who would report you for shits and giggles?

gorcorps is right - you got banned because someone filed a complaint, and it was probably because you pissed someone off. Since it's your first suspension it's almost certainly a 1 day suspension.

Wow, that really blows. I can ubderstand (somewhat) if the service were free, but we pay for this Live access, MS needs to make Live free.

I haven't used my headset since probably July... so no one has talked any shit to anyone else on there lately.

I don't betray people intentionally or anything like that.

Most recent thing that might have pissed someone off is when I ejected 3 different people from one game due to them all betraying me. (It was an Action Sack game they couldn't seem to figure out, so were fucking around instead)

A couple years ago I got a message to change my username and I had it for about a year. It was puppyhump - kids came up with it because we had just gotten a new puppy (actually was about 4 months old or so) and it wanted to hump everything. I thought it was funny, but not crude. Someone disagreed. Never got banned, just requested to change it, which I did.

So any random schmo on XBL can "report" someone and get their account suspended?

Anyone on Xbox Live can report another user for a terms of use or code of conduct violation. Microsoft will then investigate the report and take the action they feel is appropriate. If a person makes many unfounded complaints they will more or less be ignored by Microsoft, so you can't just report anyone you don't like.

When you view a person's gamercard, one of the options is to file a complaint. That's separate from leaving feedback.

You should be banned for writing something as lame as "Pimps gotta do..." in your account info.

I agree that is total BS.

So what, someone reported you. Did they report you for offensive profile content or for bad sportsmanship or what?

First off, one shouldn't be banned simply because of a few reports, because if that is how you were banned then it would seem that system is extremely easy to abuse.
Second, why do they tell you your profile is bad? What if you are on vacation when the suspension is lifted and can't change the content immediately, will they ban you again for even longer?

BS.

If they find your profile is in violation of the COC, they change it to Code of Conduct. Also, I don't think they ban you for first time offenses. You might have done other things they disliked in the past. Also, if you've ever been suspended before, you are more likely to get suspended again.

You're complaining about something that you don't even understand.

They don't just ban you because people reported you, they verify whether you actually violated (or continue to violate) the code of conduct. And as smackababy said they change your profile for you (or if it as your gamertag that was offensive you are forced to change it when you log in).

It was an inside joke about "Hustle and Flow" and rap songs. I'm not the type to put anything in my profile. That same stuff stayed there because I never once gave a shit about it.

Give him a break, that was 4 years ago. He was only 10....

You're off by 12 years. Let's see if you can figure out in which direction you were off.

I've never once received a notice from them before... no complaints...definitely no suspensions...

That shit was there for 4 years, they should have just changed it and not suspended me.
