talk about underwhelming. streaming? gah....oh yea lets all sit around and stream drm'd music to each other..bah. when you are around others its in the car, then you hook up a single device to the stereo. same when ur at a house or whatever. plus it looks quite hideous.

Looks like a garage door opener. Then again, the iPod looks like a tampon case so there isn't a lot to choose between them. Wonder when the prices on these things will start to line up with the costs to make them.

That article does not say anything.

Just some leaked pictures and info from an FCC filling that talks about its DJ feature.

I will pre-order.

Function over Form. And iPods annoy me.

Why would you assume that this will function in any less of an annoying fashion than an iPod?

First and foremost, I hate iTunes, and while there are alternatives to using iTunes for iPods, they are kinda klunky.

Seconly, I really don't like that scroll wheel.

We'll see how things turn out. It's really too early to call, but I will be pre-ordering because I'm happy that MS is finally taking a stand against the iPod Hell that apple has unleased upon the world.

not impressed by the design. i don't buy eletronics for design alone, but i do care and that thing is ugly. and let's see how long it takes for it to be hacked and slashed by the RIAA. anyway, what other features except radio and wifi does it have over the ipod? i don't listen to radio at all and couldn't care less about sharing music. the music i listen too is not especially popular currently. bluetooth for syncing would be cooler.

syncing gigs over bluetooth would suck though, and wifi would suck batteries, so u gotta plug it in for power, and since u plug it in already, might as well use fast usb2.0/firewire instead🙂 heh

it's painfully obvious people here really hate microsoft with a passion.

For real. It's pathetic. People still mention BSODs. I can't even remember when the last time I had a BSOD was

Maybe, but if this device came from Creative or iRiver it wouldn't even warrant a thread.

The broadcasting idea actually sounds fantastic for one reason...integrating it with your car. It would be awesome to not have to connect any wires and get crystal clear music when using your music player in your car. I think this is a fantastic idea as long as someone implements the receiving end of it in their car audio equipment.

Oh yeah...and the design/size is ugly/sloppy compared to an iPod. It will take a lot to get me to move over to MS's product at this point.

and I'm willing to bet that either:

a) They are making their replies on a Windows OS.

b) They are making their replies on a mac because they suck at using a Windows OS.

I had a BSOD today. I have a buggy Logitech driver that BSOD's my lappy on shutdown if I leave the USB reciever in the slot.

Hardly uncommon.

Don't they measure screens diagonally?

yes... there is plenty of player extending past the screen diagonally.

Not that much player. Without doing the math, since I don't know the screen ratio, I'd say the zune is around 4.5 inches. 0.4 inches longer then the ipod at 4.1
