Microsoft XP Home Edition Problem

A friend has had this annoying problem that has been recurring for almost a year. When he restart his computer He has to go through the registration process again with Microsoft. It works fine afterwards, but just annoying like I said.

He took in to the place that built it, and it worked once or twice, the went back to doing it again.

Any constructive comments.... ?

darn thing keeps making him re-enter his key ...

At first guess, it almost sounds like he may be having shutdown problems, and it is munging part of the registry.

There's got to be a reason it's unregistering itself ...

Never heard of the problem. Try creating a restore point when it is good, and restoring to that point when it fails. It would be interesting to know the results even though it is not a solution. Whether it will help in troubleshooting, I'm not sure.
