MICROSOFT XBOX OR NINTENDO GAMECUBE OR SONY PLAYSTATION2?!

Trying to decide which game console to buy.

Sony Playstation 2 $299 - Rumor says that price is going to stay at $299 even after XBOX is launched. Sony Playstation 2 has the good old games like Final Fantasy X and all the new Dance Dance Revolution and Bemani Series, even the Para Para Paradise. Free games with modchip. Plays DVDs

Microsoft XBOX $299 - seems to have the top of the line machine, but it's more like a computer. Rumor says that you have to install games before playing. The machine specs look crazy, but the games don't look too attracting. The two games I might want is Jet Set Radio, Metal Gear Solid X, and Dead or Alive 3... Plays DVDs

Nintendo Gamecube $199 - This system doesn't seem to be good as XBOX's but seems to have some of the funnest games. Gotta admit N64 wasn't that successful, but whenever it launched a game, it was good. All their games that are announced seems to be really fun. doesn't play DVDs and doesn't look like there will be a modchip type of deal since their cds are small.

So, Which one are you planning to get or keep?

I know this isn't the response you're looking for.. I guess I'll say Xbox if I was to buy one..

True, I probably put in a good 100 hours into Counter Strike... Damnit.. Maybe I shouldn't get anything and just study.

There's no reason to buy any of these systems right now. No games on em worth getting. Nintendo has admitted that the GameCube is focused at children and it shows... PS2 is good, but no decent games... Xbox is the best system as far as hardware and expandability goes, but the same thing, no games.

Gamecube. Easy. The Gamecube really suprized me at E3, especially Smash Bros. Melee. The PS2 is worth considering because of the games that are coming out for it, though I'd hold off until after the xBox and GC launch since it'll probably drop $50-100

Gamecube...BY FAR. All the other systems are trying to "broaden the horizons" of consoles aka try to get them to do all kinds of crap and screw up the time intended to actually developing good games. Gamecube will be strictly games and smoke PS2 and X Box

If game cube is for kids, just call me a big kid. For the longest time, I was an advid X-Box fan. Was all set up to buy one. Now that it draws near and i start seeing the bundles for the games, I just can't see myself spending 600,700, even 1000 bucks on a bundle. Just give me a cube, a few games, and I will be happy. Besides, nintendo may not always have the prettiest games, but they normally have the most replay value.

i have a PS2, and i have to say that GT3 is one of the most addictive games ever. I put this right on par with the final fantasy series!

PS2 keeper here for MGS2, FFX and the rest of Sony's games. If I get another console, it'll be GC. Xbox is showing some good looking titles, but none appear worth-while for me -- yet. Show me something exclusive, on the Xbox, that will never be ported, then we'll talk.

SSX, Twisted Metal Black, GTA, Madden, all rock. FFX and Metal Gear on the way.

You do realize that you can buy the XBOX without pre-ordering and without buying it in bundle form. Sony was the company not able to ship enough units, not microsoft. There will be plenty. That is their strategy.

Gamecube...what a joke. They had a stellar launch today in Japan. Wow, three whole games. Luigi which is about vacuuming, some monkey ball game, and a jet ski game?

PS2 is over priced and under powered. XBOX is cheaper (considering the harddrive and ethernet port) and supported by one of the largest companies in the world.

And there will be plenty of good games for the XBOX. All EA, all Sega Sports, Oddworld, Halo, Metal Gear X, and more. If you want the exclusive Mario Party so you can play chutes and ladders with cute mario characters, by all means, pick up a Gamecube. If you want Gran Turismo, realize you are paying roughly $350 for that right...and getting an inferior machine in return.

I am excited about Grand Theft Auto and FFX, neither of which are going to be on the Xbox, correct?

That seems to be the way it looks now.

Square has supported MS before, so they might port it if it's easy enough.

GTA3 will probably be released a couple months later...but you;'re right, that is only speculation.

But, while I said all that stuff, I knew there were reasons for PS2 owners to trash the XBOX...I just didn't think the XBOX was getting it's due and that is the one I prefer.

That said, HOLLY COW, GTA3 looks incredible.

I own a PS2 and they rock - Madden 2001 etc..., SSX, and GT3 - all ROCK!

Thats the order they will sell in come Xmas time I am guessing. You can say Gamecube sux and won't do much good well your wrong IMO the Brand on it(Nintendo) will be enough to sell Gamecube alone. Look at N64 it never did much good but did it die? No it is still selling decent today even though it ain't up there with Playstation.

Most kids will be telling their mommy's and daddy's they want a Gamecube for Xmas and most likely they will get one because the price is cheaper then all the rest. Oh yeah did I mention Nintendo is smart? They are already advertiseing and guess on what channel? Cartoon Network.

Myself I am more into PS2 because of the game FF,MGS,GT3,SSX,Madden,NBA Street,ATV,ect. Only thing on X-box I am looking forward to is DOA3 but I am guessing shortly after its release on X-Box it will be on PS2 but will the title changed slightly.

Since 1986 when my parents bought me a Nintendo and my dad and I played Duck Hunt (the only game he could figure out) I have been a nintendo fan.

And frankly though N64 came out with a lot less titles, all the best games were on N64 as opposed to Playstation, and I think the best Final Fantasy games were on Nin and Super Nin.

Gand Theft Auto 3 is coming to the XBox. That has been common knowledge for quite a while.

But you guys are so right! XBOX IS SUCK! The XBox only has 317 titles in development that will be complete by the end of 2002. What a crappy console!

This will be my poor life after the XBox launch:

I will be suffering with constant in game Dolby Digital Sound and High Definition output. It will really suck not having to buy a memory card. I will hate to spend that $30 for the DVD pack to upgrade from my piss-poor PS2 dvd playback. I will despise playing games like GTA3, Silent Hill 2, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Halo, and many countless others. I will hate having ethernet only games in the Spring. I just so love when a 56Ker lags everyone down.

Yep, my life will be a living hell. All because that damn XBox!
